Editorial Review:Product Description:The arrangements in this book are carefully written for intermediate-level guitarists. Each solo combines melody and harmony in one superb fingerpicking arrangement. The book includes an easy introduction to basic fingerstyle guitar, and these fantastic songs: Can't Help Falling in Love * Fly Me to the Moon * Georgia on My Mind * I Could Write a Book * I Just Called to Say I Love You * I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face * In a Sentimental Mood * Just the Way You Are * Misty * Moon River * My Favorite Things * Unchained Melody * The Way We Were * What a Wonderful World * When I Fall in Love * Yesterday * You Are So Beautiful.

I own a number of these Hal Leonard fingerpicking books, and this is one of my favorites. While I'm not a big fan of many of these songs (Yesterday is the exception) they are arranged beautifully. As the other reviewers have noted this book falls into the advanced beginner-intermediate skill level, but vary from song to song, so even if you are new there is something you can play. The nice thing about this book is that many of the songs are also piano standards, so I can play along with my wife. ...

I recommend this songbook for any beginner/intermediate guitar player! The arrangements are challenging enough to help build your skills, but not so difficult that you would get discouraged. It's fun learning songs that are familiar to you. It makes you want to work harder to be able to play them proficiently.

I own this book and Fingerpicking Pop and these are currently my favorite books to practice out of. I'm a beginning guitarist and have gone through a lot of songbooks for "beginners" and they just sound horrible because they are so simple. The songs are arranged so that they easy enough for me work with but complex enough that I'm not bored. Great learning tool!
I also recommend The Very Best of Fingerstyle Guitar (Hal Leonard) which is sort of the same thing (has some of the same songs) ...

Seventeen popular pieces of music ranging from great classics like "Georgia on my mind" to "What a wonderful world" and "Yesterday".
The music is given to you in standard music score and in TAB (for non-music readers). The level of difficulty is easy-to-intermediate. Many of the songs are good for fingerpicking-guitar beginners. The arrangements are well done and sound good.

This is one of my favorite books to practice with. I like the songs and the tab arrangements. They're difficult enough to challenge an advanced beginner/intermediate guitarist, but the songs are arranged easy enough to learn fairly quickly if you practice regularly. I wish the book had a CD or DVD version to be able to hear the tone used.
